How these 3 apps became multi-million dollar businesses, one from Entertainment, one from Gaming and another one is very silly app, but WhatsApp, Instagram, and other big names are not in this list…..Who else?
You may have great app ideas to execute them as multi-million dollar businesses. But how do you know which one works and which one breaks.
If we look at the most successful apps we have today, some were a total shot in the dark, but some had really a great viewpoint. However, neither ofthem became a hugesuccess factor in their success. In fact, their idea was differentiating enough and execution was efficient enough to reach that milestone.
In this post, I will show you five successful apps and how they turned trending apps today from being crazy ideas once.
1. Periscope
Periscope is a live video streaming app owned by Twitter. You can’t believe that Periscope has reached 1.9 million daily active users within a few months from the launch. This number (success)is close to the user base of most of the successful apps we have today.
Periscope lets you broadcast and explore the world through live video. You can broadcast it privately to specific followers or friends.
You may ask how it is different from Facebook Live. Yes, I have a justification.
Facebook Live allows us to build a better relationship with the already established user base by expressing your voice, whereas with Periscope, you can start building relationships with people you didn’t know them previously.
Facebook lets you know how many people are watching the video, but not who are watching, but Periscope eliminates this inconvenience.
Twitter purchased Periscope for $50 million in January 2015. Imagine how big the boy (Periscope) today after becoming a part of the bigger boy Twitter.
Periscope makes money from Super Hearts, virtual gifts that viewers can send to live broadcasters they like and that is priced between $0.99 and $100 for a coin package and can be purchased from Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Pre-roll ads is another monetization strategy that the company has, which was launched in March 2017.
You can directly download Periscope app from Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
2. Pou
Pouis a not much discussed app, but it isa cool success story, with around $356,692 revenue achievedper month, according to a report by the app intelligence firm Apptopia.
Pou allows player to care for and grow an alien pet (that looks like a brown rock). The player can feed it, clean it, play with it and watch it grow up. He/she can play games in the game room and collect coins.
The app is available in many languages including English, French, Spanish, Japanese and Chinese.
3. iFart
iFart is a whoopie cushion app, which can be used to make a variety of fart sounds. Sounds silly, right? But the revenue it earns in a day is not really silly, that accounts $10,000 for every single day. You really feel wow by reading the nextline. This silly app once made $40,000 in just two days (over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day).
The app costs $1.99 to download from the Apple app store. Even it offers in-app purchases.
Conclusion:
Today apps are big business, not merely an entertainment piece. If you’re thinking to build a similar multi-million dollar business, make sure you’ll have result-oriented strategies and execute them like a pro. It is always better to collaborate with an expert mobile app development company Delhi if you are based in Delhi, who can help you from building strategies to successfully deploying app at the app store. Make sure you’ll hire the right one.
